One of my all time favorite things to do is put together playlists with a common theme. Sometimes, they progress and tell a narrative story. Other times, I think of a subject then put together songs based on that idea. Sharing music with my friends and finding new music for myself is such a huge part of my life. I'm pretty ashamed that this hasn't been a more obvious fact on my blog; but the lack of musical posts will be no more! I've found that the best way to share playlists seems to be on Spotify, but if you'd like a list of the songs a different way please let me know.
This first playlist is a selection of songs that I've been listening to this summer. Unfortunately, a lot of the songs I have are only available from my library which means they can't be shared on the playlist. But this is the general idea and progression of my musical taste this summer. I like a lot of folk and Americana mixed in with some electronic/indie dance music. However, summer isn't all about feeling good for me. I need a bit of emotional pull for the season to really mean something to me. Most of the songs here are decently upbeat, but my advice is not to abandon your acoustic jams as soon as the temperatures rise. There's a certain melancholy about summer, especially towards the end, that it's just as important to preserve. After all, when you hear these songs again, you'll instantly be back to the summer of 2013.
What's on your summer playlist? Do you have more than one for your different moods or do you mix it together like I've suggested?
