I have entered the portal; and if it were up to me, I might not ever return. On the other hand, dogs and a boyfriend end up beating out palm trees and sunshine. That being said, since Okeechobee is a brand new festival, I want to highlight what makes it different. After all, this blog has quiet in the name which doesn't exactly go hand in hand with the stereotypical music festival.
First of all, there's the location. This festival is in a town that is pretty much all farmland. But Florida farmland is a different beast altogether. On the grounds, there are plenty of perfect little groves to string up hammocks. The tent only camping section is actually in such a patch of trees, adding to the jungle vibe. You also have the option to swim at Aquachobee, combining the best of both camping and beach festivals.
However, all that being said, the thing that really makes this festival the perfect one for those who may be more inclined to quiet spaces is the focus on rejuvenation and your health. Each day, you have the option of starting your morning with a free yoga session. There are more specific sessions throughout the day. Of course, there's also the tea lounge which offers a bit of calm in the storm.
Since I'm from Tennessee, one of the most stunning aspects of the festival is the natural tropical beauty of the site. Palm trees, water elements and lots of green make the trek absolutely worth it.
Of course, what would any festival be without the people. There are more and more people trickling in for the weekend since the festival is officially sold out. I'm looking forward to spending day two meeting people, swimming a bit and of course, enjoying the music.
