Yesterday, I talked a little bit about how I like to have a clear "from point a to point b" inspiration process with my outfit or it just doesn't feel totally right. Even if, in my mind, the inspiration is pretty much just to feel and look like myself with no bells or whistles (hello, white tee and jeans), it's a thought process nonetheless. But what's so fun about fashion for me is the idea that I get to dress up as whoever I want to each and every day.
On this particular day, my inspiration was Kendall Jenner combined with this wall near my house combined with every other celebrity who was spotted in these sunglasses. I actually put the particular picture I referenced of Kendall on my fall story board here. I will admit that I tried matching the look with a particular pair of metallic ankle boots that don't get enough love, but I couldn't stop singing "Some people call me the space cowboy..." to myself.
While I didn't exactly stretch my creative styling muscles for this one, it was nice to be able to directly adapt something from my fall inspirations into real life. In seasons past, I have only looked at certain outfits from a distance in admiration, but now I actually try to emulate the things I feel most drawn to as a starting point. This piece on "like chasing" keeps popping into my thoughts. The bit that really resonated is to only post things online that help you feel like you are getting closer to the true you rather than trying to present a version of yourself that may be embellished for the sake of likes. And I can't remember a time I liked myself more.
