As I mentioned a few weeks ago, my summer reading project was to finally finish Gone with the Wind. I am happy to report that I was able to tear through about 600 pages while I was at the beach in order to complete that goal! Next on my list: On the Road, White Teeth and A Good Man is Hard to Find. In an effort to tackle my ambitious and ever-expanding reading list, I recently took all social media other than Instagram off of my phone so that I could catch myself wasting my idle time and try to read in those moments instead.
If you want to enjoy summer but be sad about it, then Lorde's new album is just the thing for you. Listening to the album feels more like an echo of past heartbreak rather than hurting anew, but it is so accurately anthemic of the time right after I graduated college that it still resonates with me. I remember listening to Pure Heroine so much during the fall of my junior year of college that I associate it strongly with colder weather. I'm grateful to having new music from Lorde to pair with summer.
Although it's been a few years since the show ended, Ryan and I binged our way through The Legend of Korra right around the time he graduated. We were able to watch the first three seasons on Amazon with my Prime membership then through my internet service we caught the final season on Nickelodeon's website. I watched my fair share of The Last Airbender through middle and high school so I thoroughly enjoyed being back in that world for a little bit. My personal favorite episodes were about the origin story of the first avatar.
I just got back from vacation in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. We enjoyed two superb meals at The Tuckaway Cafe as well as Yo! Taco. If you're in the area I highly recommend checking either place out for a budget friendly lunch option!
I have Ryan to thank for my most recent recreational obsession: rock climbing. Typically I am hesitant to get invested in any outdoor adventure that has excessive barriers to entry. However, bouldering rather than any variety of higher, rope-required climbing means that I can climb to my heart's content while needing very little. I have a membership at Riversports in Knoxville and go to either Look Rock area or the Obed for outdoor climbing.
I found my striped shirt ideal through Pac Sun's Me to We line. I tend to alternate between plain white tees and striped shirts all summer, so I don't feel too bad about having a few variations in my line up. This one is perfectly oversized while still being easy to tuck in. It's also thin and breathable rather than thick cotton.
